Player Passes and Insurance

Each player or the player’s guardian is responsible for purchasing the player pass through Pelipaikka (the Finnish Football Association’s online service).

Player passes must be obtained in order to participate in matches, and to ensure that the Football Association’s insurance is valid during competitive and recreational activities.

To renew a player pass, the user must first create an account in Pelipaikka (the Finnish FA’s online service). If the guardian already has an account or creates one, the information of underage children can be linked to that account in Pelipaikka. The player pass is paid immediately via online banking.

To renew a player pass, a Pallo-ID is required. This can be found, for example, in myClub under the player’s personal information section, listed as “License ID”. The Finnish FA’s online service provides clear instructions for renewing the player pass.

Players who have previously held a valid player pass have already received an email about the renewal from the Finnish FA, provided that the association has the player’s contact information.

New player registration and player pass acquisition are also done through Pelipaikka. First, a user account must be created. After that, a player pass can be purchased for one or more players at the same time using the same account, if there are multiple players in the family.

Purchasing a player pass also requires obtaining insurance. The Finnish Football Association’s insurance is purchased at the same time as the player pass.

A player pass can only be purchased without the FA’s insurance if the player has a valid and season-long personal accident insurance that covers football activities, both competitive and recreational.

It is important to check the coverage of your own insurance with your insurance provider, as the content and validity of accident insurance policies may vary between companies.

Information about the player’s personal insurance must be saved in myClub.
If it is indicated in myClub that the player has a personal accident insurance covering football activities, the player’s guardian or the adult player themselves is responsible for ensuring that the insurance is valid, that it covers both recreational and competitive football activities, and for any medical expenses resulting from an accident if the insurance does not cover them.

Player passes

Each player must have a player pass, the type and price of which are determined by the player’s age and competition level.

A player is eligible to play when they have a valid player pass. For children and youth, the pass is always purchased based on the year of birth, regardless of whether the player competes in an older age group or in adult leagues. The price of the adult player pass is the same for everyone, regardless of the competition level. If a player participates in both recreational (KKI) leagues and division-level competitions, the player pass and representation rights must be registered with the division-level club.

The player pass is purchased through Pelipaikka, and the responsibility for acquiring it lies with the player or the player’s guardian. The player pass season follows the calendar year.

Player passes for the upcoming year become available during the first week of December.

validity of the player pass

The validity of the player pass can be checked electronically in the Pelipaikka service by the player, club, team, district, and federation using their own login credentials.
The player pass card is sent to the address provided by the player in Pelipaikka, and players aged 12 and older receive a mobile pass on their phone.

Referees do not check the validity of player passes on the field, so there is no need to bring the mobile phone or player pass card to matches unless specifically requested by, for example, the tournament organizer.

insurances

All children and young people must have insurance, regardless of whether they play in youth or adult matches.

In adult district-level leagues, insurance is not mandatory but is recommended. The insurance becomes valid according to the terms defined in the insurance policy. The game pass insurance can only be purchased together with the game pass, meaning that insurance alone cannot be obtained without a game pass from the Football Association’s online service. A game pass is compatible with game pass insurance, and a neighborhood pass with neighborhood pass insurance.

own insurance

If the player's age or league level requires valid insurance, and the player has personal insurance that covers competitive and training activities in football as well as related travel within Finland and abroad during the game pass season, they do not need to obtain additional insurance.

However, the insurance must at least match the level of the game pass insurance required for the player's age or league level.

Remember, shin injuries are only covered if the player was wearing shin guards at the time of the incident!
